Well, things this end just seem to have been so hectic! I was so extremely tired at the end of last week after having to get up early every day. I tried to go to bed early but I just couldn’t get to sleep then because it was not my normal routine. This week is not much better. I seem to be sleeping at night a lot better than I was, which helps a little, but I am still having to get up at 8am and I do not like it.
On the bright side, I am going into town today and having my hair cut. Am thinking something fairly short and sassy for the summer! It will take my mind away from having to have that blood test which I have been putting off for about a month now. It is to test my TSH and T4 levels. My levels according to ‘standards’ are in the normal range but towards the bottom end of normal so according to my specialist they need a boost with thyroxine.
I am just feeling so frustrated at the moment. I am feeling fairly normal again, apart from getting tired easily, and I really want to get a part time job just to get out the house and feel like I am contributing towards something beneficial and useful. However, I have to be so careful that I don’t overdo it and end up back where I started. I will keep you posted on things as they occur.

Hi Sarah,
It has been a while since you posted. I just wondered if you were ok.
Take care,
Dave
Hi Sarah,
have you thought about volunteering?
Very often you can just show up when you are able (and no guilt if you aren't feeling up to it), and the work you do, will always be appreciated.
Volunteering was my very first step into (social) recovery.
Good Luck with it.
Hi. I'm a 24 year old man with hypothyroidism (original TSH: 4.7; antibody positive). Get your TSH result from your GP (or maybe phone up the practise and ask the nurse). The GPs I saw considered a TSH of 5 as the borderline for hypothyroidism, but they're out-dated (and confused), and my endocrinologist uses 4. I've read loads of research about hypothyroidism and know that even a TSH of 4 is considered high.
Have you tried (Panax AKA Korean) ginseng? It seems to regulate my awake/sleep cycle and reduce fatigue (though about 100 micrograms of thyroxine does this for me too). It's supposed to act on the adrenals. I need to buy some more and try it for longer.
